We have been celebrating the conclusion of our Pre-Apprenticeship Programme (PAP) pilot, with a celebration event hosted at Kirklees College.
Piloted from September 2019, the PAP is a 26 weeks study programme targeted at KNH tenants or household members 16-19 years. Out of a cohort of 10 starting on the PAP last September, two young people have already secured employment and seven are on track to have a guaranteed interview in March for a KNH Apprenticeship. The success is a direct result of the project team's 'USP' namely, an absolute commitment and dedication to come together, share resources and expertise and to 'think outside the box' to come up with a viable solution to address exclusion.
As a pilot project we have managed an 80% retention rate, with each learner receiving wraparound support, work experience, vocational learning, pastoral support, English and Maths Level 2 and employability skills training.
