International Women's Day (IWD)

IWD banner
IWD commemorates the movement for women’s rights and has spanned a number of years. One of the earliest observances of International Women’s Day dates to the early twentieth century in New York in 1909. The day falls on the 8th March every year, so during this weeks build up we want you to get involved!

Who can get involved?
Everyone can get involved! International Women’s Day is a global day that celebrates the social, cultural, political, and economic achievements of women (including trans women). Men can show their support too.

International Women’s Day has a different theme each year. This year, the theme is #ChooseToChallenge. This theme reflects the message that a challenged world is an alert world. We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women's achievements. Together, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let's all choose to challenge’.

Choose to Challenge theme invites all gender identities to send their #ChooseToChallenge images as images are shared from around the world in the lead up to International Women's Day 2021. So strike the #ChooseToChallenge pose with your hand high to show your commitment to choose to challenge inequality, call out bias, question stereotypes, and help forge an inclusive world. You can submit your photos via this link.
