Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing (KNH) are excited to announce that their awards nominated Pre-Apprenticeship Programme will return for 2020/2021. We are building on the success of last year’s PAP programme and will recruit another 15 young people aged 16-18 from within the Kirklees area
What is the KNH Pre-apprenticeship Programme (PAP)?
KNH are working in partnership with Kirklees College, C&K Careers and Kirklees Council to provide a 26-week study programme to start in September/October 2020.
The programme aims to provide additional support and interventions to enable tenants or household members who are 16-18 years of age to successfully gain an Apprenticeship in the future at KNH or elsewhere. All participants who successfully complete the programme are guaranteed an interview for one of KNH’s apprenticeships or alternative employer in 2021.
Participants can also access other programmes run by our partners, including the National Careers Service and the Princes Trust.
The programme is unpaid, although we pay travel and lunch expenses, and participants can still join whilst still in receipt of work-related benefits: -
• College-based programme including 6 weeks work experience with KNH or another local employer in a relevant trade or business area.
• Vocational programme
• Pastoral support/tutorial
• English and Maths (level 2)
• Employability skills
• Personal protective equipment will be provided
• Payment will be made for travel and lunch expenses only
